"There's Only One A'ja Wilson"
A'ja Wilson makes history again!
What a historic week in women’s sports! This week A’ja Wilson broke the all time scoring record for the WNBA.
Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson set a new WNBA single-season scoring record in her team’s 86-75 win over the Indiana Fever, surpassing Jewell Loyd’s previous mark of 939 points. Wilson made history with a mid-range jumper just before halftime, finishing the game with 27 points and bringing her season total to 956. With four games left, Wilson is on pace to become the first player to score 1,000 points in a single WNBA season. She credited her teammates and received widespread congratulations, including from her former college coach, Dawn Staley.
Wilson was congratulated by a slew of professional athletes including Tom Brady, a part owner of the Aces, who posted “There are so many incredible players in the WNBA right now, but there’s only one A’ja Wilson.”
Check out Chiney Ogwumike’s powerful video essay on A’ja’s historic achievement.

Las Vegas Aces File Motion To Dismiss Dearica Hamby Lawsuit After Hamby Breaks Lisa Leslie’s Record For Most Rebounds In Sparks History
Dearica Hamby made history for the Sparks this week, beating Lisa Leslie’s record for the most rebounds in LA Sparks history. Leslie congratulated Hamby on X earlier this week saying, “Records are meant to be broken! I’m so proud of you!”
The WNBA and Las Vegas Aces have filed motions to dismiss former player Dearica Hamby's lawsuit, which alleges discrimination and retaliation over her pregnancy. Hamby claims her January 2023 trade to the Los Angeles Sparks was a result of mistreatment, but both the league and Aces argue insufficient evidence. The WNBA also disputed allegations of failing to investigate properly and retaliating by not renewing her marketing contract. Hamby’s complaint stems from her claim that federal laws protecting pregnant women were violated, a charge the Aces and WNBA deny.
