Angel Reese Spills ALL Of The Tea
Your Angel questions have been answered...
On Thursday, Angel Reese released the first episode of her podcast “Unapologetically Angel” with her co-host and producer Maya Reese (formerly of Overtime). The premiere episode of the show tackles several topics that have been rumors spread on social media about Angel Reese, LSU, and her time on the Chicago Sky.
Reese’s show begins by pinpointing and calling out direct examples of how the media narrative and social media narrative have attempted to twist the truth about her. Through each topic that the two cover, she explains her personal experience and her perspective on the issue and story. The fifty-seven minute show serves as Reese’s very personal breakdown of each false media narrative or social media rumor that has been said about her and her brand in the past few years.
Angel Reese On Caitlin Clark
One of the biggest topics that Reese handles in the podcast is her personal relationship with Caitlin Clark, one that has been the subject of numerous destructive media and social media narratives over the past several years.
"Caitlin is an amazing player and I have always thought that she is an amazing player... I think it's really just the fans," Reese said. "Her fans. The Iowa fans. Now the Indiana fans that are like, they ride for her. And I respect that, respectfully. But sometimes, it's very disrespectful. I think there's a lot of racism when it comes to it. And I don't believe [Caitlin] stands on any of that. But when it comes to death threats... like, I'm talking about people who have come down to my address, follow me home... it has come down to that."
Angel Reese On Her Friendship With Flau’jae Johnson
After LSU’s national championship run and their trip to the Elite 8 last year, many fans have wondered if Angel Reese and Fla’jae Johnson have continued to stay friends. Reese told viewers that she deeply respects Johnson, but the two have drifted apart.
“I still support Flau’jae,” explains Reese. “We aren’t as close as we used to be. There are no hard feelings or anything. I wish her the best always, and I’m always going to support her.”
Why Angel Reese Sat Out Last Year
Early in last year’s season, Reese sat out for a couple of games which caused a stir online and in media reports with rumors about Reese’s academic status and potential challenges within her personal life.
Reese refutes the media narratives about why she sat out at the beginning of the season, explaining that it was a personal decision between her and Coach Mulkey for her to take some time away from the team.
“Me and Kim Mulkey kind of got into it about something… and then after that game we had a conversation… it was just best for me to take some time off,” explained Reese. She further praised Mulkey for the relationship they have that allows her to take time when she needs it, “it’s me and Coach Mulkey being able to have this kind of relationship.”
Angel Reese On Hailey Van Lith
“We weren’t super close, but I was probably one of the closest people with her on the team … She was the only white girl on the team and I didn’t want her to feel uncomfortable … coming into a situation where she had to transfer. She was super successful at Louisville,” explains Reese.
“It just wasn’t a good fit for that specific team… I’ve seen her kill,” Reese continued. “I am so happy for her at TCU… she works her ass off.”
Other topics covered in Reese’s podcast debut don’t shy away from controversy – she discusses the social media buzz around her and rapper G Herbo (they are friends – nothing more), her relationship goals, rookie of the year, and more.
With the Sky being in the 8th seed right now, Reese is asking the fans to give grace to head coach Teresa Witherspoon. The Sky have also switched their entire starting lineup from May with exception to Reese.
Unapologetically Angel will release new episodes every Thursday at 5 P.M E.T with juicy tea spilled by the Chi Town Barbie herself.
