Angel Reese Leads LSU To Revenge Against Auburn
BATON ROUGE – LSU’s rematch against Auburn was nothing short of electric. Both teams had something to prove – their standing in the SEC and in the March Madness rankings. For LSU, it was deeply personal – LSU’s reputation as the reigning national champion was put in jeopardy when they lost to the Auburn Tigers earlier this year.
In Thursday night’s game, the ladies of LSU were out for revenge.
You can watch some of our game footage here…
In what was a deeply physical matchup, the Auburn Tigers and the LSU Tigers faced off in a close game. Both Honesty Scott-Grayson and Angel Reese had career defining games that led their teams and kept the pace of the game.
For Auburn, scrappy and tenacious guard play was the key to sticking in the game against a tough LSU team. In the first half, Honesty Scott-Grayson had an explosive game which led her to career highs in 3 point shooting. Her dynamic with point guard JaMaya Mingo-Young was tough to guard and challenged LSU’s guards defensively.
What ultimately put LSU over the top was an outstanding showing from LSU forward angel Reese. Simply put: Auburn had no solution for Reese on the offensive or defensive boards. Reese ended with an impressive 25 points and 20 rebounds. Auburn’s post players were quick and shifty, but not strong enough to limit LSU’s post offense.
Honesty Scott-Grayson finished for Auburn with 28 points and 4 assists.
LSU Says They Were Prepared To Take Down Auburn
We had the opportunity to sit down with the ladies of LSU to discuss tonight’s game against Auburn. As you may recall, Auburn beat LSU in a tight game earlier this season that defined the status of the SEC.
I hope you enjoy this brief interview … We will be releasing the extended interviews with these players in the coming months.
No. 14 Indiana convincingly defeats No. 4 Iowa in a rivalry matchup, 86-69.
I asked Caitlin Clark what #iuwbb did well against her tonight, especially in the second half where she was held to just four points.

In a rematch between two of the top three teams in Big Ten Indiana would dominate the Hawkeyes. This was a game in which Indiana made Caitlin Clark work hard for all 24 of her points. Clark finished the game 8-26 from the floor, 3-16 from three, with 5 turnovers. Indiana's defense frustrated Clark in the second half, limiting her to four points on 2-13 shooting from the field. The Hoosier’s defense also did an excellent job limiting Clark and Martin's three-pointers, holding them to a combined 3-22 from outside the arc.
“I thought defensively, we were just terrific,” Indiana coach Teri Moren said. “I think we made everything very difficult for Caitlin Clark tonight and that’s hard to do. She’s a phenomenal player.”
“I think being physical, face-guarding me, throwing a lot of different people at me, yeah, just very physical,” Clark said. “They kind of pushed me off my spots, got me out a little deeper than I wanted to be.”
This was a huge bounce back performance from Indiana who fell to Illinois on Monday night. Indiana’s Sara Scalia scored 25 points and All-American center Mackenzie Holmes had 24 points and nine rebounds to lead the way. Yarden Garzon was also huge in this game. When Iowa cut the lead to single digits heading into the fourth quarter, she scored two baskets and assisted to give the Hoosiers a 69-56 lead, and the Hawkeyes never recovered. Garzon was the third Hooiser in double figures, ending with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.
With the win, Indiana is currently 1.5 games behind Ohio State for the Big Ten's top seed, with two games remaining in their season, the next against Northwestern on Monday. Iowa is two games behind Ohio State with three games remaining, including a game against Illinois on Sunday and the season finale at home against Ohio State.
Duke upsets No. 17 Syracuse with a gritty performance
Duke would pull off an upset in their only regular season game at the JMA Wireless Dome, outscoring the Orange 21-6 in the second quarter to lead 35-17 at halftime. Duke dominated this game defensively, holding Syracuse to only 25% shooting from the field and 18% from beyond the arc. Duke won by 13 points, which is astonishing given the Blue Devils had 27 turnovers, and most teams with that many turnovers do not win, let alone by double figures. Syracuse stayed in the game thanks to Duke turnovers, which led to 24 points.
Syracuse's Dyaisha Fair, who entered with 3,257 career points, scored 22 on 7-of-25 shooting and is four points behind Brittney Griner for sixth all-time. This was also her 22nd consecutive game with double figures this season. Although it was not an easy 22-point effort, Duke limited her to only 25% shooting from the field (7-25). Georgia Woolley added 11 points for Syracuse, which scored the fewest points of the season and since a 75-51 loss to North Carolina on January 4.
Duke outrebounded Syracuse in this game, led by freshman Jadyn Donovan's career-high 15 rebounds. Kennedy Brown led the way with 12, Reigan Richardson had 11, and Taina Mair had nine assists. With this win Duke picked up their first road ranked win of the season but things won’t get easier as they return home to take on #6 NC State on Sunday.
